Omics in Radiation Biology: Surprised but Not Disappointed

High-throughput omics platforms have pioneered our approach to understanding biological and cellular processes. Omics technologies provide powerful tools for studying various molecules, such as genes, proteins, metabolites, in a particular state at time. Although has had presence the radiation community more than 3 decades, use of it is still its infancy. studies enable researchers understand molecular mechanism underlying effects exposure on normal cancerous tissues, answer critical questions individual sensitivity, risk assessment, biomarker discovery. In this commentary, we take look back that been conducted research last 20 years discuss whether fulfilled expectations by examining knowledge gaps omics.
